Providence Day School
Providence Day School was ready to grow, but its encircling neighborhood meant the very compact campus had limited expansion options. We’ve partnered with the school multiple times for a variety of projects, each time exploring challenges such as difficult drop off and car stacking requirements, parking needs, sports field placement, and whether to demolish or renovate older buildings. We addressed these issues and more as we oversaw the campus master plan, off-site athletic field studies, a fine arts and dining hall expansion, an academic center, a multi-purpose field, and other additions. Through these thoughtful improvements, we helped create the framework for long-term campus growth, allowing a clear plan for the next 20 years of academic and athletic expansion.
Additional Info
Project highlights:
- We spent a significant amount of time with the staff, steering committees, and stakeholders to fully understand their site constraints and challenges. The project required considerable coordination with the architect and transportation engineer for potential road improvements and access to public roads.
- We navigated compact spaces while creatively addressing construction phasing while school was in session.
- We provided creative stormwater solutions and leverage relationships with the City of Charlotte to allow unique applications due to existing systems.
- Scope of work also included a perimeter fence study, various stormwater studies, parking studies, and small plaza and courtyard spaces.
