I-57 at Division Street Interchange Reconstruction
The I-57 at Division Street Interchange Reconstruction project in Manteno, Illinois, aims to address ongoing regional growth and existing geometric and operational deficiencies. The project involves modifying the interchange from a conventional, partially signalized diamond to a tight diamond configuration with full signalization. Division Street at I-57 will be widened from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane urban section with additional channelization and a 10-foot wide shared-use path. The project also includes rehabilitating and resurfacing approximately two miles of I-57 mainline pavement and reconstructing the existing four-span structure over I-57. The bridge will be reconstructed as a two-span structure with aesthetic enhancements. Our team is providing Phase II engineering services for this project which is estimated to cost $25 million.

- The existing four-span structure over I-57 will be reconstructed as a two-span structure with a total length of 230 feet and an out-to-out width of 96 feet. The deck will be supported on 45-inch deep PPC beams with integral abutments driven down to bedrock. The bridge will also include a variety of aesthetic enhancements at the request of local agencies.
- The project will also include an approximately 500-foot long, 15-foot high solder pile retaining wall along the north side of Division Street (directly west of I-57).
- A detailed hydraulic analysis is being performed to determine if the existing culvert crossing under I-57 has sufficient capacity.
- A 3D model of the proposed improvements is being developed utilizing the latest version of Bentley’s OpenRoad Designer software.
