Crawford Generating Station
The Crawford Generating Station was a former coal-fired power plant built in the 1920s. In 2012, cost-prohibitive environmental improvements to meet federal air standards led to the site’s closure. We were hired by a liability transfer company as the environmental consultant to obtain safe, responsible environmental closure of the site. We provided a pre-acquisition Phase I environmental site assessment, along with preliminary remediation strategies and cost estimates. Post-acquisition services included remedial investigations and reporting submittals to the Illinois EPA. Final activities included oversight of remedial actions and a request for a no further remediation letter to facilitate redevelopment.
