Please join us in extending best wishes to Jim Boss, R.E.T., who retired from V3 Companies of Canada Ltd. (V3). Jim served as V3’s Director of Engineering since its founding in 2010 and Director of the engineering practice of Challenger Geomatics, the precursor to V3, since 2000. His career also includes launching Phoenix Consulting and holding other engineering jobs for municipalities and consultancies.
A well-known and highly regarded member of Edmonton’s engineering community, Jim will be sorely missed by his colleagues and clients alike. His skill at solving tricky engineering issues and his collegial mentorship of young engineers is well known among anyone who had the pleasure of working with him. We’ll miss his camaraderie, wit and professionalism, and wish him well as he moves on to new adventures, which we hope will be filled with family gatherings, visits to his favourite Mexican beaches, and motorcycle tours on the most twisty highways he can find throughout North America.
“There’s no adequate way to fully capture how much Jim has meant to us,” said V3 Vice President Ed Fitch. “He’s been instrumental in V3 Canada’s development and growth since Day 1 and he’ll be sorely missed.”
Stepping up to lead V3’s engineering practice is Steven Reichert, P.Eng. A 16-year veteran of V3/Challenger Engineering, Steve brings a deep set of skills in client, project and construction management to his new role. He has risen through the ranks at V3, starting as a summer intern prior to advancing to Project Engineer, Construction Services Manager, Project Manager and now Director.
“Steve is well equipped to maintain V3’s focus on delivering excellent consulting advice, committed project service, and talent development,” Fitch said. “This is a natural step in his progression, one that he has earned through his dedication and hard work on behalf of the entire V3 team and our clients.”
